Concord School Community Partnership Pilot Project
Concord School has completed the pilot phase of the project and will continue to pursue the two objectives, to:
- Enhance pathways into further education, training & employment
- Improve parental and family engagement at the school
- School Principal, Assistant Principal and 2 staff from the Careers Leadership Team
- Banyule City Council
- Whittlesea City Council
- Dysons Bus Services
- Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning & Employment Network (BNLLEN)
- Parent Representatives
- YMCA Macleod
During the pilot stage of the project, the Action Team developed an Action Plan that guided the work of the group throughout the 2015 school year. Outcomes included Banyule City Council’s first Work Inspirations program in which Concord students spent the week learning about the different job opportunities at Council.
Other work experience opportunities and industry tours were offered by community sector members to support students career development knowledge.
In keeping with the key objective of improving parental & family engagement, CTS conducted consultations with parent, teacher, and student focus groups. A report was compiled and consultation findings were presented in late 2015. The key findings will contribute to a Parental Engagement Strategy for the school moving forward.
